Colemans have a network of global contacts throughout the world, including many developed over a number of years through our involvement with the European Demolition Association.
When one of those contacts approached Mark Coleman to provide consultancy services for a project in Finland, it led to him working collaboratively with the team at Inkoo Power Station to help maintain their excellent safety record on site.
The 1,000 MW coal-fired power station – the biggest in the Nordic countries – was demolished in 2020 and as the client and contractor were self-delivering 100% of the asset removal, the team wanted to ensure that they had an external, holistic view of works management and execution.
The lead for QSHE compliance on the project – another contact of Mark Coleman’s through global speaker events in the demolition industry – invited Mark to carry out a review of systems and procedures, assess the culture on site, observe work practices and work with the senior management team to further develop their excellent safety record.
Mark worked with closely the client’s directors, management, and site personnel to develop improvements on site, including presentations to the leadership and site-wide management team on areas for possible improvement. And the best practice exercise benefited Colemans too, sharing and gaining knowledge in a two-way collaborative process.
